Welcome!!!

Through history and across civilizations, longhouses have been traditional living and meeting places--places where members of the same tribe or village cooperated for the benefit of everyone.  The Code Longhouse is intended to be a gathering place of like minds, from advanced developers who want to do something different, to junior developers looking to improve their skills, to designers and DBAs wanting to gain some understanding of coding and contribute their skills.  It's a place to learn and share, and where everyone benefits from interaction with one another.

Unlike a traditional user group, we won't be focusing on presentations.  Instead, we'll choose a project that is interesting and useful in society, and build it from the ground up.  Members will be involved in project management, design, development and implementation.  When we're done with one project, it will be released to the open source community, and we'll do another.  We'll support our projects as long as there is interest in them and the Longhouse.

Meetings will be focused on management of our current project.  From time to time, short presentations may be given to show something cool, but usually we'll be catching up on the progress of the project and outlining the next steps.

Besides contributing useful applications to society in general, another goal of the Code Longhouse is to have our members recognized in the development community as experienced leaders, making contributors more valuable in the job market.
